Are you doing any holiday hosting for friends and family this month?
Don’t panic!
I love to entertain and have thrown many a party or two and am sharing a few tips and tricks on how-to take the stress out of holiday hosting. You definitely want to make sure you get the most out of your time so you can sit back and actually enjoy your own party!
1) Print Your Recipes
Pick out all your party recipes way ahead of time, print them all out and make your grocery list while you have everything in front of you. Make sure to lay out all your recipes in one place in your kitchen on the day-of your party so you’re not searching in different places for them.
2) Lay Out Your Platters
If you’re like me, you’re probably digging around your basement or your storage locker the day-of your party trying to find all your serving platters. Do yourself a favor, look for them 2-3 days before your party, lay them all out on your table the night before and put a sticky note on each one so you know what goes where.
3) Grocery Shop Ahead of Time
Do your grocery shop 2-3 days before your big party so your fridge is not overflowing. I generally avoid doing the big shop on the day-of because there’s already so many things going on that day.
Prep as many things as you can ahead of time and try to find a few pre-made fruit or vegetable platters to save time. Don’t be afraid to ask guests to bring dessert or an appetizer, just so you’re not stuck in the kitchen all day.
4) Let Guests Help Themselves
I love leaving out a pretty ice bucket filled my favorite beverages so guests can simply help themselves. Leave out a bottle opener, napkins, cups and a few fun straws near your ice bucket station.
I love treating myself to an icy, cold bottle of Coca-Cola! It’s the perfect food pairing and I can’t imagine a pizza night or even burgers and fries without it.
5) Make a Big Bowl of Punch
In addition to your ice bucket, make a big bowl of my Easy Festive Holiday Punch as your signature drink of the night. I combined one 64 oz bottle of cranberry juice with 2 cups of Sprite and 2 cups of orange juice in a punch bowl filled with ice.
Garnish with orange slices, fresh cranberries and cinnamon sticks for pretty presentation!
6) Assign a Photographer
Assign an older child or guest to be the event photographer. It will definitely keep them occupied and give them something to do so you can get back to your holiday hosting duties. Choose the best photos and create a Shutterfly Book that you can ship to your guests as a thank you present.
