Barnes and Noble Nook Tablet 7-inch now official with Google Play Services for $49.99

Near the end of October, Barnes and Noble’s newest tablet made the FCC rounds, pointing to a bit of a change of pace for the book seller when it comes to its tablet efforts. Namely, the inclusion of Google Play Services. And sure enough, that is indeed the case.

Barnes & Noble has made its NOOK Tablet 7-inch officially official, which features a 7-inch display and Android on board. That display has a resolution of 1024×600 and there’s a 5MP camera on the back as well as a 2MP front-facing camera. The NOOK Tablet 7-inch features 8GB of built-in storage and a microSD card slot for expandable storage. B&N says the battery will last up to seven hours with general use.

Barnes and Noble’s new tablet is running Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, and the big takeaway this time around is the inclusion of support for Google Play Services. That means you can access things like Play Music, Play Books, and Play Games, as well as the Play Store to get even more apps.

The NOOK Tablet 7 is available to pre-order right now, and it retails for $49.99. Barnes and Noble says it launches on Friday, November 25.
