Google Maps expands to include additional ride-sharing services

Google Maps has become more than a simple GPS navigation system. The service has evolved to become a one-stop shop for finding the best route from point-to-point. Whether that route is fast, toll-free, on bike, on foot, in the car or filled with stops on the way, Google Maps has you covered. A new way in which Maps is expanding is through partnerships with ride-sharing services to keep users informed on the options of transportation.

Google has been affiliated globally with Uber as well as working with certain country-specific services. Notably missing from the pack, however, was Lyft, one of Uber’s biggest competitors in the U.S. With a new update, that’s changing. Lyft and Lyft Line options will now be shown as ride-sharing options across the U.S. Coming alongside is Gett, which has previously been confined to the U.K. In the U.S., Gett will initially have availability only in New York City.

These new options are available in both the iOS and Android apps. Try them out for yourself and let us know what you think.
