Carriers in the U.S. respond to Galaxy Note 7 recall



As expected, Samsung has announced a global recall of the device following reports of faulty batteries that could explode in some Galaxy Note 7 units.

Now U.S. carriers have begun to respond to Samsung’s recall and how it affects their subscribers. Many of the carriers are offering quick and easy returns for Galaxy Note 7 customers.

  • Verizon Wireless is offering to waive restocking fees for any customers that wants to return or exchange their Galaxy Note 7. Verizon says it will wave that fee until September 30.
  • T-Mobile is waiving restocking and shipping fees and also offering full refunds for both the Galaxy Note 7 and any accessories customers purchased. If you’re a T-Mobile customer, head into a store or call customer support to set up your return.
  • AT&T says that it is still working on its exchange process. The Big Blue carrier says it will have more information “soon.”
  • Sprint will give customers a “similar device” to use while they wait for Samsung to resolve this recall and are without their Galaxy Note 7. Customers need to go into a Sprint store to make the exchange happen.

While this is a big deal for Samsung, it’s good to see that carriers are attempting to make the recall as easy for customers as possible.
