8 Little Splurges For Fall

fall-ideas

I am all about small pleasures that bring me a little bit of joy everyday. So when I was thinking about my fall wish list, I wanted to put together a list of ideas that didn’t break the bank. It’s all about the little splurges – you don’t need a ton cash to get a little happiness in your day.

Here’s what I suggest:

1) New Pajamas

Have you looked at your pajama drawer lately? I just looked at mine and it’s a mish-mash of old T-shirts with holes in them and bottoms that don’t match. Ditch anything discoloured, doesn’t fit, has rips or holes in them and doesn’t bring you joy. Scoop a cozy pair of pajamas that you look forward to putting on in the colder months! I like these ones and this one too.

2) A Favourite New Candle

Candles are not expensive. Find one in your favourite scent and light it at night after a long day when you get settled in on the couch. I like this soy candle here and the relaxing fragrance of this candle as well. The warm glow is super calming and just makes me think of fall.

3) Replace Your Sheets + Bedding

Are you still sleeping on the same sheets you had in college? Consider upgrading to bamboo sheets or something with a higher thread count that makes you look forward to getting into bed every night. If you can’t afford an entire set, get a new duvet cover or blanket to snuggle up in.

4) A Dinner Date With Friends

I like having something special on the calendar to look forward to. Take a moment and book a dinner night out with friends to a restaurant you’ve all been meaning to try. On a budget? Book a potluck dinner party and offer to host. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just an excuse to get everyone together.

5) A Fancy New Coffee or Tea

I’m a big of David’s Tea and they put out new teas every season, but my favourite is still Forever Nuts. If you’re not a tea drinker, try out a new local, artisanal coffee brand and give yourself something to look forward to when you wake-up. One of my personal favourites is Blue Bottle Coffee.

6) New Magazines

Looking for inspiration? I love popping into a bookstore and picking out 2-3 magazines to read. I usually end up getting a mix of cooking, home decor or fitness magazines. It’s something fun to read on your commute or before bed.

7) A Day Spa Visit or Massage

Hit up your local luxury hotel for a day spa visit! They usually cost less than a full treatment and it gives you access to their gym, pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room and other facilities. If you have a bit more budget, book a massage or look around on Gilt City or Groupon for a discounted fall spa treatment.

8) An Afternoon Tea Date with Your Mom

When was the last time you hung out with your Mom? Call her up and book an afternoon tea date to get all caught up. Here are my favourite places for afternoon tea in Toronto.
