Fiat is set to make its first ever foray into the pickup truck market, with the imminent launch of a sturdy, reliable and performance-driven bakkie, aptly named the Fiat Fullback.
Named after the fullback playing positions in rugby and American football, the Fullback fits the bill for what the world expects from a modern 4X4; a stylish and bold design, the promise of a vehicle that can haul almost anything, and a superbly put together interior, sporting some of that vintage Italian Fiat flair that we have all come to love so much.
The Fullback will arrive with two engine choices, both delivering great power and precision, making your driving experience a superb one. The 2.4L petrol engine produces 97kW and 202Nm, while the 2.5L turbodiesel will be available in three tuning levels; 94kW, 100kW and 131kW respectively, with torque figures that vary between 200Nm and 400Nm.
It will be available in Single and Double cab styles, along with three cargo bed lengths, which will allow you to configure the Fullback the way you want.
The Fiat Fullback has a 3-metre wheelbase, a 1-ton carrying capacity, and a towing capacity of 3 tons. Ground clearance is between 200mm and 205mm, depending on the model you choose.
It has a six-speed manual gearbox, and is one of the first pick-ups in the world to have an aluminium engine, making it the best combination of maximum lightness and maximum power.
The Fullback excels in the comfort and interior departments too. It boasts a stylish interior that is soundproofed, so any kind of noisy distractions are a thing of the past. The Fullback has supportive seats, available in two upholstery options, including leather, and an impressive three dashboard styles to choose from.
