The weather is warm and the sun is shining! It’s time to go outside and explore Naperville. Here’s a list of ten things to do in Naperville this summer:
Shop in Downtown Naperville
Downtown Naperville is full all kinds of shops. From brand name stores to smaller boutiques, there is something for everyone. Spend the day window shopping as you walk along the sidewalks
Visit the Riverwalk
Take a stroll alongside the west branch of the DuPage River and take in the scenic views. The Riverwalk is considered one of Naperville’s “crown jewels” and features fountains, artwork, and gathering places.
Enjoy Paddleboats and Kayaking at the Paddleboat Quarry
Located along the Riverwalk, Paddleboat Quarry offers both paddleboat and kayak rentals. While paddling your way across the Quarry you can take in the views of Millennium Carillon in Moser Tower.
Visit Napersettlement
Take a step back into the past at Napersettlement. Take a tour of the blacksmith barn, visit the firehouse, and don’t forget to check out the schoolhouse. The pioneer settlement is fun for the whole family!
Attend Ribfest
Mark your calendars! Ribfest is July 1st – 4th! Not only is this event known for its great food and great music, but it’s also known for being a fundraising event put on by the Exchange Club of Naperville. Give back to your community this summer and enjoy some barbecued food and live music at the same time!
Splash around at Centennial Beach
It’s not a swimming pool and it’s not a lake. Centennial Beach is Naperville’s most popular spot to cool off when the weather gets warm! Whether your day is spent lounging in a chair on the sand or diving off of the high dive into the deep end, Centennial Beach is the place to be this summer.

Who doesn’t love cookie dough?! Cookie Dough Creations has a safe to eat cookie dough that you can order just by itself, mixed in with your favorite flavors of ice cream, or sandwiched between two giant cookies! Just a short walk from the Riverwalk, you can surely satisfy your sweet tooth here!
Attend Naperville Wine Fest
This upscale event will take place at the CityGate Centre on Friday August 12th and Saturday August 13th from 5:00-10:30pm. One adult wine tasting ticket to the Naperville Wine Fest includes 12 wine tastings, one pint of beer, food and wine seminars, live entertainment, and the chance to purchase wine at a discount. Want to know the best part? Bill Jacobs BMW will be there on Friday, August 12th! And guess what? Friday is also BMW Owner’s Day! That means, if you show your BMW key at the festival, you will receive one free ticket to the event.
Dine in Downtown Naperville
Whether you’re in the mood for fine Italian dining or are just looking for somewhere to grab a mouthwatering burger, Downtown Naperville has your dining needs covered! With over 40 different restaurants ranging from Asian to Italian to Irish to American there are plenty of options for whatever you’re hungry for!
Hang out at Last Fling
Before you know it, summer will over and leaves will start to change. Last Fling is Naperville’s way of saying goodbye to the summer over Labor Day weekend September 2nd through September 5th. With live entrainment and carnival rides, there’s no better way to wave goodbye to summer than at Last Fling.
Of course, all of these summer activities would be way more fun if you were driving around in a Volkswagen this summer, especially in a Beetle! Visit Bill Jacobs Volkswagen to cruise around this summer in style!
