OnePlus says there won’t be any more OnePlus X devices

In October of last year, the OnePlus X officially made its debut, billed as a budget-friendly Android device thanks to its $249 price tag.

Now that OnePlus has made the OnePlus 3 official, people have already begun wondering about a follow-up to last year’s OnePlus X. Unfortunately, the news isn’t good, because OnePlus has confirmed that there actually won’t be a followup to the OnePlus X at all.

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau says the reason to ditch the OnePlus X line isn’t because the OnePlus X did poorly, but because the company simply wants to put the entirety of its focus on flagship devices. Part of that plan sees the teams behind OxygenOS (what’s available on the OnePlus) and its HydrogenOS teams combining to develop one piece of software from here on out.

OnePlus moving away from the budget-friendly market is an interesting move, but considering how the OnePlus 3 is being received, the move was apparently a good one.

Were you looking forward to seeing a OnePlus X2?
