The 2016 China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) season officially kicked into full gear with the first round held at the Jiangsu Wanchi International Circuit in Nanjing, China on May 22, 2016.

DYK (Dongfeng Yueda Kia) Racing Team, the official racing team of Kia Motors China and last year’s defending champion, is back, energized with the all-new Kia K3 to complete the circuits. Following the glorious win from the 2015 CTCC season, DYK Team drivers Lifeng Lin, Jiatu Zhan, Zhiqiang Zhang, and Hongli Ye will continue to lead the team this year. Furthermore, the DYK Racing Team renewed its engineering partnership with Hexatron Racing Systems for technical support this season.
With round one of the race already complete, the DYK Racing Team is off to a winning start! Leading in scores for the Super Production 1.6T class is our team’s driver Jiatu Zhan, who piloted the new Kia K3 ahead of competitors to victory.
Back with a Fierce, Competitive Racing Engine
Most noteworthy for this season is the new racing engine aboard the all-new Kia K3. First revealed at the 2016 Beijing International Automobile Exhibition, the new K3 Turbo has already captured the heart of its Chinese consumers with a sporty yet sophisticated design.
For the 2016 CTCC season, five 2016 Kia K3 vehicles were specially built to drive the team to victory once more. Developed at Namyang R&D Center located in Korea, the new 1.6T-GDI TC4 engine boasts more power that gives the driver a competitive edge on the track. In addition, the race vehicles also come with an enhanced chassis. By leveraging the structural stiffness of the K3 and adding modified parts, the research team was able to develop a racing sedan that allows for safer and more consistent handling under extreme cornering and bumpy conditions.
The DYK Racing Team members who test drove the K3 ahead of the competition complimented the boosted performance and steady handling of the car under high speeds and while cornering.
The 2016 CTCC will officially come to a close following the final round held at the Shanghai Tianma Circuit in November. Fully equipped with best-in-breed racing engines and technical partners, the DYK Racing Team looks forward to another successful season, with the ultimate goal of sweeping top prizes in both the driver and manufacturer categories!
