Samsung Pay is coming to Singapore

Shortly after adding China to the list, Samsung is now making its mobile payment service available in Singapore.

Early this morning, Samsung confirmed that those living in Singapore will get to use Samsung Pay. The service is expected to debut sometime in the second quarter of 2016. Currently, the service works in the United States, South Korea and China, making this the fourth country to support it.

Currently, Samsung is working closely with major banks to gain approval. Once approved, users will be able to transfer payments at millions of locations, even those that don’t have an NFC payment terminal. Samsung says that the service will work at locations like supermarkets, convenience and departmental stores, healthcare and beauty outlets, as well as food, lifestyle, electronics, furnishing stores, and lots more.

In order for the service to work, you’ll need a Samsung smartphone with the embedded technology (magnetic secure transmission). The list of compatible smartphones include the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6, and Galaxy S6 Edge. More devices are to be added to the narrow list as they launch. We’ll notify you when the service goes official.
