As summer road-trip season approaches, it’s natural for outdoorsy drivers to start planning ahead. Every spring, we tend to get questions about installing bike racks, trailer hitches and the like from Mitsubishi owners gearing up for some summer fun. Here’s one of the most common questions: Can a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport tow a trailer safely?
2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Towing Capacity
Unfortunately, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport owner’s manual doesn’t recommend using it to tow. There is no safe maximum weight listed. We’re aware that some outfitters can install trailer hitches that fit the Outlander Sport. However, if you choose to go that route, you’re installing at your own risk, and any damage that occurs from towing won’t be covered under the Mitsubishi vehicle warranty.
There are still lots of other ways to get your Mitsubishi Outlander Sport summer road-trip-ready. We’re happy to help you find the right bike rack or roof carrier for your Outlander Sport, and we’ll help you install it, too. Contact our parts department for a quote!
