Google’s web site for Google I/O 2016 is now live and headlining is the announcement regarding registration for the event scheduled to be held May 18 – 20, 2016 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. Google will be opening the registration window on March 8th at 9:00 am PST and will keep it open until 5:00 pm PST on March 10th. As in the past, Google will be doling out registrations using a raffle system that chooses from all of the registrants, so you do not need to hit the registration site right at opening.
Besides making sure you hit the registration site during the open period, users will need a Google account to start the application process. If you are lucky enough to get a registration, the cost will be $900 for a general admission ticket or $300 for an Academic Admission. Google notes that registration is only available for the full, three-day event – no single-day tickets will be available. Google also does not allow users to register on behalf of anyone else or to sell or transfer their tickets to anyone else. Just in case something comes up, registrants can get a full refund until April 29th, but after that date they will be out of luck.
Google has a full set of instructions and requirements on their site that covers things like documentation to prove qualifications for the Academic Admission rate, some broad rules for attendees – like no selling, and information on what is included as far as meals and sessions.
