Impressive peak power output is the hallmark of middleweight supersports, but a broad spread of torque is a much more useful quality on the street. And it’s clear the latter was the goal with the 2016 Kawasaki Z800. It’s super-middleweight 806cc inline four offers 50-plus pound-feet of torque from 3,700 rpm all the way to 10,500 rpm. As depicted in the graph, power delivery is very linear. This engine emits very little vibration in the lower half of its rev range, but once revs surpass 6,000 rpm, an onset of engine vibration builds and becomes very noticeable through the grips, frame, and seat.
