2017 Mitsubishi Mirage Changes

2017 Mitsubishi Mirage Changes

Mitsubishi recently announced that an updated version of the Mitsubishi Mirage will be released this spring. It will skip the 2016 model year entirely, entering dealerships as a 2017 model. The tiny Mirage hatchback occupies a unique niche as one of the most affordable and fuel-efficient cars on the market. For 2017, the new Mirage is getting design upgrades inside and out, as well as some new audio system options.

According to Mitsubishi, the updated Mirage hatchback will be available beginning in spring 2016. 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage Changes

The 2017 Mirage has gotten quite a few exterior design updates. It has a new hood and grille, designed to be lightweight and aerodynamic without sacrificing form. The Mirage will also have new wheels, redesigned lighting and front and rear bumpers, and a new rear spoiler.

Inside, the 2017 Mirage comes with new seat fabrics, a redesigned instrument cluster, and a new steering wheel. A 300-watt Rockford-Fosgate audio system will be available, as well as in-car display audio with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. This makes the 2017 Mirage the first Mitsubishi vehicle to provide these popular audio options in the US. Finally, to improve handling, the 2017 Mirage is getting a redesigned suspension. Its brakes have also been upgraded.

While the pricing hasn’t been announced yet, expect the 2017 Mirage to stay true to its reputation as the most budget-friendly new car on the market. The 2015 model started at a $12,995 sticker price, so the new model should stay close to that affordable price point. Similarly, while the new model hasn’t been tested yet, expect it to be at least as fuel-efficient as the current Mirage. The 2015 Mirage gets up to 37 city / 44 highway MPG, making it one of the most fuel-efficient non-hybrids on the road. With its lightweight, aerodynamic design, the new Mirage should be able to achieve gas mileage numbers at least that high, if not even higher.
