CG Says: Mitsubishi’s rally-bred, all-wheel-drive compact sedan gets a touch-screen stereo with HD Radio and satellite radio for 2014. High sticker prices, mediocre fuel economy, and the need for premium gasoline, synthetic oil, and (in northern climes) winter tires are all drawbacks of the Lancer Evolution. So too are the low-budget interior appointments, crude-sounding engine, and high insurance cost. Yet for those drivers who want an all-out performance car, the Evolution is an enticing treat. Spirited acceleration and racecar-like steering and handling make the Evo an uncompromising thrill machine.
