Mercedes-Benz Australia has announced a recall on examples of the large M-Class (‘ML’) SUV and its GLE-badged replacement, to address a potential hazard with the front window wipers.
The company reports that vehicles sold between between February 1 and October 30 this year – during the crossover period of the M-Class model’s re-christening as the GLE – may be at risk of a short-circuit situation.
The issue centres on the vehicle’s battery cable, which may be incorrectly positioned and could potentially contact the wiper arm.
If contact occurs, a short circuit could result and the wipers may fail, leading to impaired visibility in certain situations.
Mercedes-Benz reports that 879 vehicles are affected under the recall, with owners to be contacted by mail.
