MotoGP and World Superbike race winner, Marco Melandri posted the photo above on his social media channels today, announcing he and MV Agusta have come to an agreement that will have the Italian test the F4 RC superbike in order to give his feedback and potentially help develop the machine into a contender.
Melandri last raced for Aprilia in MotoGP, though it was clear the former 250cc world champion wasn’t enjoying his time. He was routinely bringing up the rear of the grid, trying to develop an Aprilia that was essentially a highly modified RSV4. Melandri made his return to the MotoGP grid last year after a successful season the year prior with Aprilia in World Superbike.
Racing is obviously what Melandri is known for, so a testing role would hint at Melandri’s return to World Superbike, but the Italian admitted to the World Superbike website that, after months away from the paddock, this test with MV Agusta will help him determine if a full time ride is really what he wants. For now, he said, this test is just that – a test – with the opportunity to help MV Agusta engineers with important feedback.
