KTM Press Release: Factory FMF KTM rider Ivan Ramirez clinched the 2015 AMA National Hare & Hound Championship at the final round of the series marking his first-ever U.S. National Championship. Ramirez’ championship win also marks the first time in the history of the Hare & Hound Series that a Mexican rider has won the title. Ramirez went into the round with a large points lead and only needed to finish 17th or better to claim the title. Ramirez started the race in the top ten and maintained that position throughout the race. “I really just took it easy and enjoyed the race,” stated Ramirez. “It was more like a long trail ride today just trying to play it safe and make sure I earned the title. I am so excited to finally get this title and want to dedicate it to my friend Kurt Caselli who is the man responsible for training me in this series.” Ramirez moved from 10th to 7th by the end of the race. At the end of the three loops Ramirez finished 7th and clinched the title. Factory FMF
KTM support rider Gary Sutherlin came from a bad start and was able to move into the top five before the end of the first loop. He quickly moved into podium position and began pressuring for 2nd place. On the final loop with five miles to go, Sutherlin was able to make the pass stick for the runner-up position. His podium finish secured him 3rd overall in the championship point standings.
