This is 2016 Kawasaki ZX-10R Superbike, today unveiled in Spain that the Japanese giant pulls out all the stops to capitalize on their dominance of the World Superbike series with the first major update to their flagship sport bike since 2011.
With Jonathan Rea bagging the official WSB team their second world title, the company has experienced great lengths to explain the changes that define their new model have all resulted from their success on the track.
While the new bike may seem outwardly similar to the current model, the truth is that only a nut or bolt was left untouched. The raft of modifications to the engine, chassis, suspension, fairing, electronics, brakes and exhaust is vast, and even some parts that look identical had the magic wand waved R & D on them. All changes, say Kawasaki, had to satisfy the demands of the BMS factory team, with former World Champion Tom Sykes play a central role in the development of the bike. Kawasaki says this is the closest thing to a factory superbike he ever produced.
This new incarnation will enter a Superbike class which was almost completely invigorated over the past two years, with an explosion of new models heavily revised or completely making it the most advanced and fiercely competitive class in motorcycling. With existing bikes already offer formidable competition and the arrival of radical new GSX-R1000 Suzuki for 2016 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade and venerable remain with both feet firmly in the past. Do not forget, however, that it is still a bike capable of winning the Isle of Man.
