For more than 30 years, Aerostich suits have been the gold standard for riders who live on their motorcycles. This year, the Duluth, Minnesota-based company announced a major update of its Roadcrafter suit—the new R-3. A suit like this is an investment, but an Aerostich will last for years. It’s one of the most versatile pieces of gear any rider can own.

The suit’s TF impact armor fits into new pockets that Velcro to the suit’s body, making them easier to fine-tune the fit. Hip, spine, and chest armor are also available. A new pass-through makes it easy to hook up electric clothing.

Like the previous Roadcrafters, the R-3 is made from mil-spec 500-denier Cordura Gore-Tex fabric with 1,000-denier abrasion patches. Rare-earth magnets now hold the suit’s collar open and keep it from flapping. The new dual-height collar folds down and snaps too.

The new R-3 is now fully waterproof, with all its seams taped. The zippers are rainproof and seam-sealed as well. Eliminating the nylon liner makes the suit lighter and helps improve airflow for better venting on hot days.
With more than 30 color combinations, it’s easy to make your R-3 stand out. The R-3 is sized like a dress suit (i.e., 38 Long). Both men’s and women’s sizes are available. Removable interior pockets let you customize the suit’s carrying capacity.
