It took intense research, hours of scouring this photo for the tiniest details, interviews with dozens of prominent historians, but we think we’ve tracked the original location of this photo – scanned by doctor.boogie on Flickr – to Weeki Wachee Springs, Florida, a state park these days. We’re not entirely sure, though, so feel free to chime in with your suggestions. If indeed this photo comes from Weeki Wachee, it dates to sometime after October 1947, when the first mermaid show took place there. What do you see here?
