So it’s no show winner in its current shape, but this 1959 Cadillac Series 62 four-door hardtop for sale on Hemmings.com looks like it’s only a few weekends away from being presentable and likely could hit the road as a driveable dream as is. In addition, the Sylvester and Tweetie floormats provide an interesting juxtaposition against the car’s Fifties class. From the seller’s description:
It still needs work, but you can run it and enjoy it as you finish the project. It has a freshly rebuilt original engine, transmission, brakes, and rear end. Have receipts for more than 10k of recent work (within last year). Gas tank has just been been flushed and painted. Radiator re-cored. Starter, oil pump, etc. rebuilt with engine.
Originally a southern car (I purchased it in Louisiana), and as such is solid.
Engine, brakes, and rear end done by Fitzgerald Automotive in Beacon Falls, CT. Runs excellent. The car is otherwise fairly original. The power windows don’t really work (window tracks are corroded). Cracks on 2 side windows and windshield. Window rubber should be replaced. Wiring is original, interior is good, dash fair. Dash does have crack. Interior was redone at some point in the past, in good shape with no tears, etc. in seat. Rear “shelf” under rear window is stained. As is common with this year, the horn ring is broken, but epoxied together. Factory A/C is in place. The paint is an older repaint, showing its age around the edges, but still looks pretty good. Some minor bubbling, spots of thin paint, etc. Wheels are likely from a 1970s Caddy. Original hubcaps in trunk. Speedometer/odemeter don’t currently work.
