The first van in space? According to this old publicity photo from Ford UK, which BigLorryBlog shared eons ago and which we also ran across on a nice history of the Ford Transit van, it was a six-wheeled gullwing-door, bubble-window-in-the-roof Mk II Ford Transit in about 1979. Watch out for instant decompression and the intense solar radiation, space babes!
* I swear, this isn’t a women-on-cars themed Four-Links, but this photo of an ultrawide Mini Countryman built for promotional purposes, which AROnline shared this past week, looks best here.
* For those who like their vans a little narrower and with far far far less cargo space, Banovsky presents the OSI-built Alfa Romeo Scarabeo, which almost made production.
* Not every automotive landmark no longer in its historical location has been leveled, as we can see from The Old Motor’s report on the Johnson’s Corner filling station, which was instead removed to a new location and is in the process of a restoration.
* Finally, the recent Concours d’Elegance of America featured a number of different classes, including hearses, and Kevin Wilson’s report for Car and Driver gives us a look at that class.
