Choosing options for your next new or used vehicle is all about personal preference. Some people swear that they will never again get a vehicle that doesn’t have a good sound system or steering wheel controls while others tried having a vehicle with a third row seating option and have come to the conclusion that it was just wasted space for them. One of the most popular packing options includes the option of a sunroof or moonroof; so what are some of the advantages and disadvantages of a moonroof or sunroof?
Advantages of a Moonroof or Sunroof
- This could go either way actually, depending on your opinion, but having an additional window located on the roof of your vehicle makes the cabin feel larger, brighter, and less confined.
- Drivers in warmer climates who enjoy driving with the windows down, like having another opening to let in the fresh air. (It’s almost like a mini convertible.)
- Some moonroofs extend back to the rear seat passengers as well giving everyone a wide open view and plenty of fresh air.
- Rear seat passengers who frequently get motion sick also might enjoy the added air circulation and the feeling of being less confined.
Disadvantages of a Moonroof or Sunroof
- Although sunroofs and moonroofs do come with sunshades, they don’t always block out 100% of the light. If you are someone who doesn’t like a real bright cabin, this might not be the best option for you.
- Adding a moonroof or sunroof will also add to the weight of your vehicle because of the support structures built to support them.
- Much older vehicle models might rattle, but technology has since improved and the majority of vehicles from the 2000’s don’t have this problem.
When considering a moonroof or sunroof, think about what you like and want in a vehicle. Would you enjoy added light and fresh air, or do you prefer a darker cabin and don’t think you need something like this?
