Somewhere on Long Island, sometime during the 1973-1974 OPEC oil crisis, a few dozen motorists – maybe more that we don’t see outside the frame of the photo – jostled for position at this Texaco gas station, as we see in this AP photo used extensively since then to illustrate the effects of the oil shortage. Fortunately, they seem to have been rather orderly (orderly New York drivers? Gidouttahere…), and the photographer caught many of the cars at good angles for carspotting, so tell us what you see here and the average fuel economy for each car you spot.
