As an American who doesn’t speak a lick of French and hasn’t been to the country, it’s easy enough to scan today’s carspotting scene for a familiar word – Bordeaux! – and slap this up. However, that looks like the ocean at the end of the avenue, and Bordeaux ain’t on the ocean. Fortunately, the folks at the Voitures des annees 60s Facebook page suggested Lacanau – a beach town not far from Bordeaux – and indeed after poking around on Google Street View, we see that the photo was taken from the Place du General de Gaulle looking down the Allee Pierre Ortal. When it was taken is another matter, perhaps one we can resolve by identifying the cars in the photo. What do you see here?
