Ford in collaboration with Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) youth education programs. Its no secret that The Blue Oval Company has a generous philanthropic side to them. This one-of-its kind Mustang will beauctioned off anddonated in the name of charity of which the sale will benefit EAA youth aviation education programs. Ford has raised nearly RM 10 million for EAA youth aviation programs to date.
And what has Ford cooked up this time ? Judging by the pictures, this aeronautical and dare I say, Interstellar concept Mustang has everyone stunned in their tracks at the sheer beauty of the car they’ve whipped up. Based on a 2015 fastback Ford Mustang GT, Ford design and engineering teams has transformed the 5.0-liter pony car into the Apollo Edition Mustang.
The Apollo Edition Mustang features a carbon fiber front splitter, rear diffuser, rocker moldings and accent treatments, along with unique LED under body lighting to symbolize atmospheric re-entry. On the inside there’s embroidery on the front seats that mimic the astronauts flight suits.
This Mustang isn’t powered by the Saturn V Rocketdyne F-1 engine, but rather this 5.0-litre pony car kicks out 627 hp and a scarcely believable 732 Nm of torque. The Performance package include enhancements such as, Ford Performance’s supercharger and shifter. An X-pipe exhaust system assists with breathing while a sport-tuned suspension, six-piston Brembo brakes and custom Forgiato 21-inch performance wheels keep all that power grounded and in check.
The Apollo Edition was built in collaboration with MAD Industries, led by Chris Mangum. Interior enhancements were created in-house by Ford’s design fabrication team and parts were contributed by companies like Eibach, 3M, Brembo, PIAA and Pirelli just to mention a few. All in the name of charity and philanthropy.
