Remember Jeb Scolman? He’s the hot-rod builder who created the stunning Spirit of Munro in 2014, back when Indian is was celebrating the launch of its new Thunder Stroke 111 engine. Well, Jeb is at it again. Indian delivered him an engine and gave him one simple instruction: Build what you want. And what you see before you, the Indian Black Bullet Scout is that creation, boasting a lot of the custom metalwork for which Scolman is known. Indian tells us the bike calls to mind the pure speed motorcycles from the late 50’s and early 60’s with a fork-mounted bullet fairing, a minimal frame and a silhouette that could be seen at land-speed events and drag strips across the US. 
What do you think? We like how the nose cone brings to mind the military drop tanks used by hot rodders, and the tidy overall scale of the bike. Minimal bodywork that wraps tightly around a 1200cc version of the Indian Scout engine helps in this area. Other details include a custom wrap-around windscreen, clip-ons, and footrests mounted to the rear axle for a streamlined riding position. And by casting a custom intake manifold to turn the throttle body sideways, Scolman achieved even tighter engine packaging. Look for the Black Bullet Scout to be on display at Sturgis, in the Indian display on Lazelle Street. Lastly, Indian promises that the bike will see the salt. That’s good news.
