Kids Critique the 2015 Kia Sedona
Consumer reports are an important part of getting an inside perspective of a vehicle’s performance and how well it suits the driver. Asking critics and drivers’ for their first hand experiences is common in most buyer’s researching process, but what about the backseat drivers; the ones singing “I know a song that gets on everybody’s nerves”, asking “Are we there yet”, and telling you that they have to go to the bathroom right NOW.
When you want an honest opinion, blatant and brutally honest, look down because they’re looking up at you. Kids will tell you exactly what is on their mind, and in a family vehicle like a minivan, it only makes sense to have kids critique the 2015 Kia Sedona.
Cars.com had a kids and tweens talk about what they liked and disliked about the 2015 Kia Sedona, since they are after-all, the ones riding in the second and third seats until they turn 16 and the keys to the family van are turned over to them.
Space: Nobody likes the feeling of being cramped or confined in a vehicle, but one of the comments that each kid noted was how tall the Sedona is. Kids are able to walk without ducking, making it easier to get in, out, and choose a seat to sit in.
Seats: The reclining feature of the second row captain’s chairs was a big hit with the kiddos. Taking a nap on a road trip or just being able to lean back, put your feet up on the leg rests, and relax while watching a movie makes you forget you’re even in a minivan. They also commented on how comfortable the seats were to sit in and that there is plenty of room.
Windows: The windows of the Sedona are tall and wide, giving rear seat passengers a wide view of the world outside of them and unlike vans in the 90’s and early 2000’s, the windows roll down. (If you have ever been in the back of a van with no air circulation on a hot day, you’ll know just how exciting this is.) They also have shades to block out the sun when playing a game or watching a movie.
“Not Dorky”: This was our favorite comment of them all. Kids don’t have preconceived conceptions of a minivans, but as for the rest of us; moms, dads, and teens alike, we all would rather be flying around in a fast, high-performance vehicle than a minivan. There is heavy stigma that follows minivans around.
One teen summed it up best, “Minivans are usually old cars that you don’t want to be seen in, that are dorky and weird, but this one doesn’t look or feel too cheesy like an actual minivan.” She then went on to further comment that she wasn’t embarrassed to be dropped off in it at school and that she likes “..that you can set the max speed limit and then the car tells you when you go above that speed. That would be a good feature to have when I start driving.”
Even with cars, kids are very attentive and have some interesting input. It pays to listen, especially because if they aren’t comfortable, or don’t like something, they’ll make you well aware of it.
