With just 500 built, the Jensen C-V8 ranks among the rarest of high-performance British GTs. Like its better known successor, the Interceptor of 1966, the Jensen C-V8 combined a brawny American V-8 with sporting coachwork and a luxurious, hand-assembled interior. These exclusive cars were among the fastest four-seat production cars you could buy, capable of going from 0 to 50 in five seconds and achieving a maximum speed of 129 MPH. This 1965 Jensen C-V8 for sale on Hemmings.com is a Mark II, with a 300-hp, 383-cu.in. Chrysler V-8 taking the place of the 363 of the Mark I.
You won’t find any rust in the fiberglass bodywork, though the supporting box-section tubular steel chassis is going to want a thorough investigation. The aluminum door skins are generally resistant to rust, but they can corrode, especially where they come in contact with the steel door frames. Aside from the necessary paintwork and welding, some new carpeting and door trim, at least, will be needed, and there’s a crack in the windshield, as the seller’s photo shows.
The price guides say you should be able to find a Number 1 car for $60,000 or so; could this one be brought up to that level with an investment of $38,000? We’ll let the Jensen experts figure that one out. From the seller’s description:
Car has been in storage since 1986. Car was taken to a body shop in 86 stripped of all trim, bumpers, and lights. Was stripped of paint, and then owner got in an argument with the body shop, and had car towed home to his garage, and there it sat till now. I primed the car, and reinstalled all original trim, lights, and bumpers. I have installed cap, plugs, wires, points, fuel pump, drained gas tank, changed oil & filter twice, the car runs and drives, everything works. it has Minor rust in right side (drivers) door, battery box, and small hole through drivers side floorboard. Overall car is in original condition. if you want to see a video of it running click here: http://youtu.be/jbnqe9IH64g . Has clean Maine title
