We know that this Cadillac-powered 1951 Allard K2 for sale on Hemmings.com shows well, given the long string of awards it’s already won. We’d suspect it would also do well on road rallies and other long drives too, given the disc brake and five-speed installations; after all, what good do those modifications do anybody if they aren’t put to the test out on the road? From the seller’s description:
The car on offer here is owned by a collector in Northern California. This K-2 is correctly equipped with the brilliant 331 Cadillac engine and original 3 Stromberg 97s sitting atop. It has been slightly improved with front disc brakes and a Tremec 5 Speed gear box making it safe and enjoyable to drive. The Allard recently had a high quality re-spray and interior re-fresh. The Transmisson and paint work were done by well-known restorer Martin Hveem of Martin Hveem Auto restorations and reflects the quality of his recent Pebble Beach projects. The Allard was previously part of the well-known Gene Ponder collection.
This Allard has won many awards including the prestigious Sid Colberg Award for The Best Sports Car from the Golden Era of Classic Sports Cars at the Hillsborough Concourse d’Elegance and a 1st in class and best in show at the 2012 California all British Car Show, 1st in class 2012 Ironstone concourse and 1st in winners circle 2013 California All British Car Show plus numerous other awards.
