Full disclosure: I was on the judging team that awarded the first in class at the Milwaukee Masterpiece to this 1954 Kaiser Darrin for sale on Hemmings.com – and I can relate that while the judging was close that day, this car certainly deserved the award – but I would have probably highlighted it as an HFOD anyway, given its cleanliness, its poise, and how detailed the photos are. From the seller’s description:
This is car #54 of 435 Darrin’s produced by Kaiser-Frazer. It is finished in Champaign White with red interior and top. Restoration began in earnest in 1997 and required seven years to complete the restoration.
This Darrin’s show history began after its restoration was completed in 2003. Notable awards included “Gold” awards at two Kaiser-Frazer Owners Club Annual Conventions at Auburn, Indiana and again at Hoffman Estates, Illinois where the Darrin achieved total points of 192 of 200 at Auburn, and 195 of 200 at Hoffman Estates.
In April 2011, the Darrin was invited to participate in the Rockford, Illinois “Classics and Chrome” invitational car show where it received “People’s Choice Award” from the +10,000 show attendees. The Darrin was entered in The Milwaukee Masterpiece Concours d‘Elegance in 2007, where it was awarded first place in the American Grand Touring class. The auto was again invited to The Masterpiece in 2011 to participate in the Fabulous Fiberglass featured class where it received an award of First in Class.
