Californians might not have to deal with rust to the extent we in the Northeast do, but they typically encounter other problems with older cars: worn-out high-mileage drivetrains, sun-faded paint, heat-baked interiors. This 69,000-mile 1970 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight two-door hardtop for sale on Hemmings.com, though, shows little of those maladies thanks to a recent reupholster, repaint, and redo of the vinyl top, that all look convincingly well done from the photos. From the seller’s description:

455 Rocket engine, 4 barrel, stock engine runs great and fires on all cylinders. No problems with engine. TH400 Transmission, works great and shifts very well. No Problems with Transmission. A/C components are there, but belt not connected and do not know condition of A/C system. Recently reupholstered inside of vehicle: Seats, Carpet, Headliner, Dash Cover, Arm rest, Sun Visors, Etc. Recently replaced Vinyl Top. Recently Repainted the Exterior. All the trim and badges on the car are there and in good condition. The electric windows work, but rear windows sometimes have a hard time rolling up. The electric bench seat works good. Absolutely no rust on Vehicle. Very solid desert California classic car. Everything is solid. Trunk has been reupholstered, and everything is present. The body has a some minor dings, but they are very small. Overall this car is a turnkey runs great and looks great. It gets a lot of looks, and is ready for a car show. I get alot of compliments on this car. The trunk, rear windows, and roof line have all new rubber. I have the pink slip, the car is registered in my name, and the title is a clean title. Tags were just renewed and good until 04/2016. I bought 3 cans of 455 1970 Oldsmobile 455 Light Blue Engine Enamel from Tarmaz, it is the exact color, was going to repaint engine but don’t have time anymore, comes with vehicle. I have the original owners manual.
