“The Thing – What is it?” A tourist trap, of course, one out in the middle of a long lonesome stretch of highway in Arizona, and one that reportedly hasn’t changed much – aside from the admission price – since this postcard photo was taken sometime in the 1950s. A quick googling will reveal exactly what The Thing is, but really, identifying the origins of it aren’t the point of the roadside stop at all. Identifying the cars parked in front of it, on the other hand, is the point today.
