The look of the updated Toyota Corolla sedan has possibly been revealed in a video, which was shown prior to Toyota’s presentation at the 2015 Geneva motor show.
In the computer animated video, a Toyota Corolla sedan is seen darting around a virtual town demonstrating various safety features, including automated emergency braking, lane departure warning, road sign recognition and automatic high beam.
Unlike the Corolla sedan that’s currently on sale today, the animated Corolla features slimmer, rounder headlights similar to the ones seen on the facelifted Corolla hatchback.
These lights are linked together by a V-shaped chrome bar, which runs the length of the bonnet/bumper edge and is capped in the centre by a prominent Toyota badge. The effect, again, is almost identical to one seen on the just unveiled update to the Corolla hatch.
Below this, the cut-out for the lower air intake has the same shape as on the facelifted hatch. Although here, on the computer generated sedan, this area is framed a band of chrome that runs almost the entire circumference.
At the rear, the CGI Corolla sedan doesn’t look much different to the current Corolla sedan, except for a thicker chrome highlight joining the tail-lights and sitting above the number plate recess.
A word of caution, these images may be a computer animator’s flight of fancy and, even if they are not, the version of the Corolla sedan seen in the video may not be sold in Australia. Currently Toyota makes two different versions of the global Corolla sedan: a chromier, glitzier affair for Europe and Asia, and a sportier-looking version primarily for the Americas.
