Hemmings Find of the Day – 1953 Bandini

We’ve seen this particular Crosley-powered 1953 Bandini for sale on Hemmings.com in person a couple of times now, and can attest that it sports a mighty fine restoration – one that’s gained it entry into the Amelia Island Concours – and that it’s a mighty tiny car – basketball players need not apply. It also has an interesting history, having been built for Flash Gordon creator Alex Raymond and subsequently raced in the Midwest in the 1950s and 1960s. From the seller’s description:

The car is sold from a large collection due to non usage. The car was listed in the book Franco Fabbri, Cesare Sangiorgi “Ilario Bandini”, see Chapter Barchetta 750cc “Siluro” (Previous Owner: Larry Dee Melsheimer, Indiana). Due to his best-in-class-restoration worked out by D&D Classic, Ohio, the car was awarded at many concours in Europe and the US. Only 45 cars still alive of 75 build ones. Therefore it is very hard to find one. This is maybe one of the best and authentic restored car. A very rare opportunity to buy one of this car which might be used for further concours around the world, historical races or just for your living room.
