Fiat goes “Black Tie”

rrrrrr As Pierre-Auguste Renoir once said, “I’ve been 40 years discovering that the queen of all colours was black.” It seems like Fiat have come to a similar realisation with the brand’s release of the crossover Fiat 500X “Black Tie”, which has been described as a vehicle “in which style, substance and quintessential Italian design characterise a high-performance car always connected to the world”. Customised by Garage Italia Customs under the careful guidance of former Fiat Marketing Manager Lapo Elkann, the Black Tie was built almost entirely by hand by a select group of experts. Externally, the Black Tie has been given a black wrapping style paint job consisting of both chrome-plated film and traditional paint, resulting in a herringbone style appearance that is supplemented by varnished wood roof rails and handles. The inside of the car is dominated by an arresting black denim roof as well as upper pillar linings, and the seats are similarly covered with denim on the outside and British-style cashmere on the inside with black leather edging and ice-colour stitching. Continuing the pattern found on the outside, it also features a herringbone pattern. Different fabrics compete for attention, with cashmere sun visors making an appearance supplemented by black leather edging. The car’s lower pillar lining, kick plate and non-slip floor mats of the front and rear doors are made of black Alcantara with dark stitching, as are the entire dashboard, panel structure and transmission tunnel. Other touches include matte-black painted handles and ceiling lights, as well as a solid wood inner door moulding, central console, dashboard accents and the luggage cover panel.
