Bearing the 2015 Ford F-150 Arctic Circle Challenge

2015 Ford F-150 Arctic Circle Challenge

The F-Series blogroll from Allegheny could very well be considered a digital history of all to which Ford’s pickup team has subjected its 2015 F-150. Dating back to 2011, Ford began placing prototypes of the next-gen pickup at job sites dedicated to mining gold, laying highway, and generating hydroelectric power. And that was 2011.

Over the course of the next three years F-150 would see its fair share of rocks, boulders, and overgrown vegetables. But according to Lauren Brown, few things would prepare F-150 for what it would see when put to work in the Northwest Territories. Recorded in the clip below, the all-new pickup takes on Brown’s 2015 Ford F-150 Arctic Circle Challenge—though the poise with which the vehicle handles its business should be not be much of a surprise at this point.

In its most basic description, Ford’s latest video follows a standard errand run for Brown and his family. It just so happens that Brown’s standard run covers more than 1,300 miles in round trip distance. Fortunately for the team looking to test the full capability of Ford’s F-150, Mother Nature made the most of that 1,300 miles. From Inuvik to Fairbanks, F-150 saw plenty of rain, potholes, mud and dust—all under full load conditions.

Though not specifically articulated throughout the video, it appears as if Inuvik is not the type of place where convenience stores grace each common street corner. This means Brown must travel long distances for the food, tools and lumber his family might use on a daily basis. Bulk purchases of this type undoubtedly turn weighty in a hurry, providing the foundation for Brown’s 2015 Ford F-150 Arctic Circle Challenge.

As Brown mentions in the clip, there was a high level of concern as to whether Ford’s 3.6L EcoBoost V6 could handle the northern terrain as well as his eight-cylinder F-150 from 2010. But by the end of Ford’s four-minute segment, Brown was certainly singing a different tune. Making 365 horsepower and 420 foot-pounds of torque, the large EcoBoost option available inside F-150 is actually the most powerful application of Ford’s light-duty pickup truck efforts.

Available with both the 2014 and 2015 F-150, drivers looking to command a pickup worthy of traversing the arctic circle can find new truck models now at Allegheny Ford Isuzu. Click the follow to explore the dealership’s hard-working truck options today.
