The Road Racing Drivers Club has presented the Mark Donohue Award for the 44th time to a driver who showed outstanding performance, competitiveness and sportsmanship during the recent SCCA National Championship Runoffs. The driver thus recognized is Jeremy Greiner, 39, of Charles Town, West Virginia, who scored a closely fought win during the Formula F championship at the Runoffs, held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California.
Greiner scored a clean victory in the Formula F race despite a rough-and-tumble event that saw three full-course cautions. Seventeen RRDC members were present to watch his drive, plus others watching online. It was Greiner’s first SCCA national title.

The award is named in memory of Mark Donohue, who won the SCCA E Production national championship in 1961, before embarking on a stellar career that saw him win the Indianapolis 500, the SCCA Can-Am championship, three SCCA Trans-Am titles, the first International Race of Champions title, and to pioneer road-course technology in NASCAR. He died in a practice crash before the 1975 Austrian Grand Prix.
This year’s trophy was donated by RRDC president Bobby Rahal on behalf of his IndyCar team, Rahal-Letterman-Lanigan Racing. It’s based on a steering wheel that was used by his son, Graham, during the 2013 and 2014 IndyCar seasons.
