The English sports car maker’s new uber-sedan was revealed to high wealth clients in Dubai overnight and has been christened the Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf.

Clad in a carbon fibre body, the new Lagonda Taraf will go on sale, by invitation only, across the Middle East from 2015.

According to AutoExpress, the 5.4 metre-long four-door, four-seat sedan will cost in excess of 400,000 pounds ($730,000).

At his first official public gig as Aston Martin CEO, Andy Palmer told the assembled British press, “It is clear from the initial reaction to the car that interest from around the world is extremely high and I can confirm today that we are also evaluating the opportunity to offer this Lagonda in other markets”.

As for the name, Taraf is reportedly Arabic for ultimate luxury. Aston Martin carefully points out that that the new car “will be known as the Lagonda Taraf in that market”, hinting at the possibility of a simplified or altered name should the company decide to sell the new Lagonda sedan outside of the Middle East.

As with the rest of the Aston Martin lineup, including everything from the Vantage through to the Rapide, the new Lagonda Taraf is based on the company’s VH architecture.

Stylistically the Lagonda Taraf is heavily influenced by the rectilinear 1976 Lagonda designed by William Towns. Underneath the bonnet, the new car is expected to feature a version of the company’s 5.9-litre V12. It will likely power the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
