Even before Doc Hudson’s turn as a star in the Disney film Cars, step-down Hudsons proved popular both within and without Hudson aficionado circles, as we can see from two step-downs in this five-car comparison test from SIA #197, October 2003, both of which scored the highest marks, as rated by their fellow Hudson owners. The other three Hudsons, ranging in age from 1939 to 1954, aren’t half bad either, with a one-off 1941 Commodore and the unusually styled 1939 112 among them. Mark McCourt wrangled the five and compiled the various responses.
