The Scrambler will mark Ducati’s re-entry into the Indian market.
The new Ducati Scrambler which broke cover at the recently concluded INTERMOT 2014 is slated to be launched in India in the first half of 2015, reports Zigwheels.
The Scrambler gets its power from a detuned version of the Monster 795’s 803 cc engine.
Mr. Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A., revealed to the publication that the Scrambler which is made at the company’s Thailand facility will mark the brand’s re-entry into the Indian market. It’s to be noted that the iconic Italian sportsbike manufacturer withdrew form the market after a brief operation through an authorized distributor.
Now, with the support of new owner Audi, Ducati is all set take a second stab at the sub-continent and this time the entry level model will be the new Scrambler instead the Monster 796 which is also made in Thailand.

Sporting a minimalistic design, the Scrambler stands out from rest of Ducati’s portfolio. The motorcycle is powered by the 803 cc L-Twin Testastretta engine that is derived from the Monster 796 but detuned to produce 75 PS and 67.5 Nm of torque.

The transmission is a 6-speed unit. The motorcycle is suspended by an upside down telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Brembo braking system (single disc at each wheel) with standard ABS provides deceleration.
The motorcycle is available in four variants and has a price range of USD 8,495 (5.23 lakhs) to USD 9,995 (around INR 6.15 lakhs) in the US. While the Scrambler has a unique appeal, price-wise competition would come from the Triumph Bonneville.
