The absolute best way to get youth interested in old cars is to give them hands-on experience. Let them sit in, work on, and drive old cars. And what if they’re too young to drive? Something like this Junior Replicas 1956 Chevrolet Corvette kiddie car for sale on Hemmings.com, a re-creation of the Real McCoy Corvette that hammered for $2.3 million late last year, may very well do the trick. It’s reasonably fast, it’s stylish, and it looks like fun. From the seller’s description:
This extremely rare motorized replica of the legendary 1956 Corvette SR Prototype (a.k.a. “The Real McCoy”) was manufactured by Junior Replicas of Paraná, Brazil. These stunning replicas feature a 6.9HP overhead cam, 4-stroke motor, which pushes the car to a max speed of 35mph. This is no Go-Kart! All exterior and interior details of the original Sebring Racer have been replicated – right down to the vinyl tonneau cover, leather straps and brake cooling ducts. Other technical specs include electric start, clutchless 3-speed automatic (with reverse), coil-over shocks (front & rear), adjustable gas and brake pedals, functioning headlights, turn-signals and horn. See additional specifications in photo gallery.
This example has never been used and was only removed from it’s shipping crate for photographing and a thorough check of the mechanicals. The protective plastic is still on the leather seats.
