September Android Security Update Goes Live for Nexus, Pixel Devices

September Android Security Update

Google just dropped the September 2018 security patch for Nexus and Pixel devices on us. At this time, we already have both factory image and OTA files, so choose whichever works best for you if you don’t feel like waiting for the update to show up on your device.

So far, we are seeing new 9.0.0 files for Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL (PPR2.180905.005) and Pixel and Pixel XL (PPR1.180905.003, PPR2.180905.006, PPR2.180905.006.A1).

Other devices like the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, and Pixel C are not on Pie and won’t get there, so they are seeing 8.1.0 files. Those files are OPM4.171019.021.Z1 for Pixel C, OPM6.171019.030.K1 for Nexus 6P, and OPM6.171019.030.K1 for Nexus 5X.

For version notes, we’ve got:

  • Pixel and Pixel XL (PPR2.180905.006): General release
  • Pixel and Pixel XL (PPR2.180905.006.A1): Verizon
  • Pixel and Pixel XL (PPR1.180905.003): Telus
