5 Survival Tips You Need To Know Before Shopping On Amazon Prime Day

Any seasoned shopper knows, you can easily save big when you have a strong game plan going in. The same is true of Prime Day: If you can identify the deals you want before they go live, your chances of getting them are much greater.

Ahead, the must-know hacks that will help you not only find the products you want, but also track them, and save even more than the discounted sticker price.

Download the Amazon app to get a preview of some of the best Prime Day deals before they begin on July 16. Tap the Prime Day banner anytime between July 9 and July 15 to start assembling your shopping list.

Set up deal notifications

Amazon Prime Day (and-a-half) begins on Monday, July 16, and extends into early hours of Wednesday, July 18, when it officially ends at 3 a.m. For most people, this means deals go live during the workday, making it difficult to keep track and then go online to buy them during the countdown. Fortunately, you can preview the deals and set up notifications for the savings you don’t want to miss.

After downloading the Amazon app, tap the menu icon and click “Today’s Deals.” Select “upcoming” for a look at all deals coming soon. There are a lot, so it might be useful to tap “filter” and choose the categories you’re most interested in. When you see a product you like, select “watch this deal.” You’ll get a notification when the deal begins.

Talk to Alexa

If you already have an Alexa-enabled device such as the Echo or Echo Dot, simply ask “Alexa, what are my Prime Day deals?” to find out the latest.

Install the Amazon Assistant

If you’re shopping on your desktop, download the Amazon Assistant plug-in for your Safari or Chrome browser. In addition to getting deal notifications, you save $5 off any Prime Day buy that costs $25 or more.

Use Camera Search

You can save an extra $5 on deals by shopping via Amazon’s camera search feature. To use it, open the Amazon app and tap the camera icon to the right of the search bar. (You’ll need to be near the item, or one similar to it, that you’re looking to buy.) Grant camera access and tap “product search” or “barcode scanner”. Then, tap “start” to scan the item.

Amazon will pull up an exact match or one like it. Toggle on Prime to filter the search results to show Prime items only.

Don’t forget if you aren’t a prime member you can sign up for free for 30 days, so don’t forget to cancel after 30 days if you don’t want to continue using it, and for goodness sake, as soon as you sign up put in your credit card information! Time is of the essence!
