Seven new renders depicting what’s said to be the OnePlus 6 appeared online on Sunday, having originally emerged on Chinese social media website Weibo. The images that can be seen in the gallery below show three variants of the upcoming Android flagship, with one of them sporting a metallic blue finish and the other two being of the plain white and black variety. All three handsets appear to be boasting a red Alert Slider, one that so far hasn’t been seen on any regular model of a OnePlus-made device. The firm’s decision to additionally emphasize the new iteration of its signature physical switch may have been prompted by the fact that the Alert Slider of the OnePlus 6 will boast new functionalities, with the Chinese phone maker already teasing a “slide to focus” feature.
The company has been teasing the OnePlus 6 for over a week now, indicating the device will be officially announced in a matter of weeks, especially as the OnePlus 5T is already out of stock in most markets around the world. So far, the OEM confirmed that its next high-end Android offering will be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 and feature up to 8GB of RAM and a maximum of 256GB of internal flash storage, though neither variant of the handset is likely to sport a microSD card slot. The device will have a display notch, OnePlus confirmed last month, with the cutout also being featured in the newly emerged renders.
The images also suggest OnePlus redesigned the dual-camera setup for its next product and will now position the two sensors centered approximately a quarter of the way down the back panel of the new flagship, with the rear-mounted fingerprint reader also being redesigned as it’s now more akin to that of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus than the circular sensor found on the OnePlus 5T, as indicated by the same renders. The OnePlus 6 is widely expected to be announced circa late April and start retailing on a global level come mid-May.
