Whoa, we’ve got an Oreo update rolling out in the US to a Samsung phone – I almost can’t believe it. Verizon folks who own the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ should check for an update to see if they can pull it.
We’ve heard from two readers who both were pushed the update earlier today, at almost the same time. The build for the Galaxy S8+ is arriving as G955USQU2CRB9. We have yet to confirm the regular S8’s build, but it should just be G950USQU2CRB9. The update includes the Samsung Experience version 9.0 too, as well as Oreo’s picture-in-picture and autofill features.
I should point out that we’ve asked a handful of other Verizon Galaxy S8 owners and most aren’t seeing an update available. This could be a slower-than-usual rollout from Big Red and Samsung.
If you own a Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ on Verizon, head into Settings>System update.
