Fitbit’s ‘Mass Appeal’ Smartwatch Comes Without GPS

Fitbit’s ‘Mass Appeal’ smartwatch comes without GPS, which is a bit of a drawback for anyone wanting to use it for that specific purpose as GPS is featured in the Fitbit Ionic, but the idea of the new watch is apparently to cater more to women in addition to men, highlighting that Fitbit will want to offer something that’s more well-rounded as opposed to packing it with all kinds of features. This new watch still doesn’t have an official name but it’s suspected that it might be the Fitbit Blaze 2, and it’s said to be a little smaller than the Ionic to help with the “mass appeal” in terms of style.

While it will lack the ability to offer GPS tracking, it will be water-resistant up to 50 meters which is a good thing for anyone who is planning to use this new watch to go running, as it’ll easily withstand sweat, rain, and accidental drops in puddles or spills onto the watch itself. It’ll also come with varying styles and colors for the watch case and the bands that will accompany them.

Based on the images above and below the watch will come with both silicone and fabric bands, as well as four different colors for the watch case which will be Black, Charcoal, Rose Gold, and Silver. Each case also comes with a band color that goes well with the color of the case. For example, the Rose Gold cases will come with either Peach-colored silicone band or a Purple fabric strap, while the Black case will come with a Black silicone band, the Charcoal with a Black fabric strap, and the Silver case will come with a Gray silicone band to match. That said, it’s also possible that other colors of the bands will be available, but it doesn’t look like the straps or bands are interchangeable so consumers will be limited to what comes with the case color they choose. In addition to the water-resistance and the range of different styles, this new watch will come with SpO2 sensor and is expected to be officially unveiled sometime later this year, suspected to be in the Spring at some point though it isn’t known exactly when. It’ll also reportedly be less than the Ionic in terms of cost, though the exact pricing is unclear as well. Fitbit’s new Mass Appeal smartwatch will be following the launch of the company’s most recent watch product, the Adidas Edition Ionic which was just announced on February 27.
