Verizon is targeting prepaid customers with a new unlimited plan, though it’s worth mentioning that this doesn’t come with unlimited data, just unlimited talk and text. It does, however, come with 500MB of data so there is some possibility to use internet on the cellular network. That said, compared to the plan that is just $10 more, which offers 3GB of data, it’s not really a good value unless you barely ever use the web when not connected to Wi-Fi. If you really never use the internet on your smartphone, then this new $30 plan will save you some money each month and still afford you some data use via LTE, and give you unlimited talk and text on top of it so you can still communicate as much as you want through voice and through messages.
Just like the other plans on Verizon’s prepaid lineup, which includes the $40 plan mentioned above, a $50 plan for 7GB of data, or a $60 plan for 10GB of data, the $30 plan comes with mobile hotspot so you can share your internet with another device if you want to, and it allows for international texting at no cost to 200 different countries from the U.S., meaning you send texts from within the U.S to those 200 countries without getting charged any fees.
The plan also includes the ability to carry over your unused data each month as long as you pay your bill on time, so if you don’t use all of the 500MB one month you can bring it over to the next and have a little bit extra for that month. In addition to this new $30 plan Verizon is introducing the Travel Pass option to prepaid customers for just $5 a month on top of their normal monthly costs. So if you have the $30 plan, then for $35 you could have everything the plan normally offers plus the ability to text for free when in Canada and in Mexico. Verizon says this is the first time that Travel Pass has been offered to non-postpaid customers, so if it’s something you’ve been waiting on you can now sign up for it. If this new plans sounds like the best fit for you, you’ll be able to set it up starting February 20 when Verizon launches it.
