OPPO had introduced the OPPO A71 back in September last year, and the company has just quietly announced its successor, only a couple of months after the first-gen model was introduced. The OPPO A71 (2018) is now listed on the company’s official website in Pakistan, which suggests that the device will be available in developing countries. As some of you probably already guessed, this is an entry-level handset, and it looks basically identical to its predecessor, read on.
The company has shared the phone’s design and its specifications, but its price point is still not available, so keep that in mind. The OPPO A71 (2018) is made out of metal, while it sports three capacitive keys below its display, multitasking, home and back buttons, respectively. A single camera is placed on the back of this phone, while its bezels aren’t exactly the thinnest around. OPPO’s branding is present on the back of the phone, while its main camera protrudes a bit on the back. This smartphone is fueled by the Snapdragon 450 64-bit octa-core processor, which is still an entry-level processor, but it’s noticeably more powerful than the MediaTek MT6750 which fueled the original model. The device packs in 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage (expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card), though there’s a chance that OPPO may introduce a 3GB RAM model of the phone as well, which will ship with 32GB of internal storage.
The device sports a 5.2-inch HD (1280 x 720) display, which means that it sports a regular 16:9 aspect ratio. A 13-megapixel snapper (f/2.2 aperture) is placed on the back of the OPPO A71 (2018), while a 5-megapixel selfie shooter (f/2.4 aperture) is also a part of this package. Android 7.1 Nougat comes pre-installed on the device, with OPPO’s custom UI is installed on top of it, ColorOS 3.2. Bluetooth 4.2 is also included in this package, while a 3,000mAh non-removable battery is included as well. The device measures 148.1 x 73.8 x 7.6mm, while it weighs 137 grams. The phone comes in Black and Gold color variants, and even though its price point has not been revealed, it is expected to cost around PKR 20,000 ($180). That is more or less all the info that the company shared on its website, an official announcement will probably follow in the near future.
